HENDERSON, NV — Thanks to an impressive 26–17 road upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the 2–0 Las Vegas Raiders are looking like a smart early season bet.

While many detractors, haters and critics will point out that it is only the first two games of what appears to be a 17-game campaign of attrition — thanks to a league-wide rash of injuries already — Jon Gruden’s crew has the look of a dangerous team that can wreak havoc.

While all the off-season headlines were about fellow division rivals in Kansas City and Los Angeles in reaping praise on Patrick Mahomes

NEW YORK CITY, NY — With New York Fashion Week now in the books, did the fashion industry’s most storied event help make fashion great again?

ORLANDO, FL — Before their 36–31 instant classic primetime win over visiting Boise State, the biggest news, other than the two-plus hour weather delay was UCF moving to the Big 12.

According to sources within the program, UCF, along with fellow American Athletic Conference members Cincinnati, Houston and independent BYU are rumored to be recipients of official invites from the Dallas-based Big 12.

If rumors of a jump from the Group of Five AAC to the sans Oklahoma-Texas Big 12 are indeed true, then the Big 12 ironically gains four programs on the rise in offsetting the departures of big-name…

From the Big Easy to the ATL, and from the Carolinas to Champa Bay, the NFC South is without question, the most intriguing and unpredictable division in the NFL. The only division to have all four teams appear in the Super Bowl once, as well one of the few where each team has won the division at least three times.

From 2007–2010, each team won the NFC South in consecutive years, Tampa Bay (2007), Carolina (2008), New Orleans (2009) and Atlanta (2010). …

Probably the roughest division from top to bottom with the most vocal and outspoken fans in the entire league, the NFC East is a lot like the fans and cities that occupy it, loud, proud and unapologetic. Stretching from the Big Apple to the Big D, with stops in between our nation’s capital and the country’s birthplace, the NFC East is hard to peg down both football-wise and geographically.

While the division boats arguably one of the league’s best young quarterbacks in Dak Prescott and the NFL’s best defensive line down in our nation’s capital, there are also the two…

Go west young man! Those famous words by Horace Greeley couldn’t be truer thanks to the AFC West having two of the most gifted young quarterbacks in the NFL in Justin Herbert and Super Bowl champion and NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes. In a division that is expected to be both wide open and exciting — just like during its AFL heyday, check out my AFC West divisional preview!

Denver Broncos — — Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater? …

Arguably the toughest division in football, the AFC North — -aka the Heisman Division — can lay claim to three potential playoff teams — and two legit Super Bowl contenders — in the form of the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns — Below is my AFC North divisional preview!

Cincinnati Bengals — — Don’t laugh now, because you may cry later in sleeping on the Cincinnati Bengals. One year removed from a season-ending ACL injury, second-year franchise QB and 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow is fully healed, a year wiser and gets a LSU reunion with former Tigers teammate…

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Thanks to going 6–9 for 71 yards and being sacked twice in his NFL debut vs. the Cleveland Browns, Trevor Lawrence looked nothing close to the №1 overall pick.

Lawrence, selected first overall out of Clemson by the Jacksonville Jaguars was harried, flustered and seemingly overwhelmed by a newly-revamped Browns defense, sans Pro Bowl edge rushers in Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney in his first series.

Albeit, this was just the first of many games in what could be a promising career for the former national-championship winning QB, Jacksonville did Lawrence a disservice in starting him behind…

FOXBORO, MA — Despite a 22–13 win over the Washington Football Team, the New England Patriots seem to have a proverbial conundrum at quarterback in former NFL MVP Cam Newton and first-round pick, Mac Jones.

Jones, taken 15th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama completed 13–19 passes for 87 yards in five series and led the Patriots to six points in his first taste of NFL action. While he didn’t go deep often, Jones’ average pass completion of 4.6 yards didn’t’ quite help in showing a quality NFL arm and ability to make downfield throws.

With head…

LAS VEGAS, NV — One week after inking center Jarrett Allen to a five-year $100 million deal in free agency, lottery pick Evan Mobley gave Cleveland a taste of what they will be getting in a Cavs 94–84 Summer League victory over the Orlando Magic.

Mobley, taken third overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, showed off a impressive display of size, athleticism and shooting in scoring 14 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out six assists in 31 minutes.

While Mobley was the team’s second-leading scorer, as last year’s lottery pick, Issac Okoro was with 15 points, it was Mobley’s…
